Do you obey God?

Pluralism has dominated our world so much so that it poses that there is no absolute truth that our obedience can hinge upon. It is said by Professor David Wells in his book entitled no place for truth that, “We are, in fact, caught up in a whirlwind of choices that is tearing at the very foundation of our stability.” He further states that, “At the same time, society finds that it can no longer recognize appeals to authority.” Morality is quickly diminishing in our society and the question is what has authority over your soul that we obey it? It is true we are faced with great difficulties because we are bombarded with sin on every side in this society and posed with a plethora of different beliefs about what is right and what is wrong. I dare to say today beloved that, the word obedience has become an archaic word in the church and in the world nowadays and has been replaced with the word tolerance. Become the world has changed so much the question is what has changed with us. I visited a church were the men in choir looked more feminine than the women. Deacons claiming they have authority in the church when the scripture explicitly states that elders ought to rule, women in the pulpit exercising authority over men when the Bible explicitly states in 1 tim. 2:12, “Let not a woman teach or exercise authority over men in the church,” women dressed promiscuous in the church when the bible explicitly says in 1 tim. 2:9, “Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly….People lying and cheating, hating one another in the church when the bible explicitly says to love one another, the word obedience, beloved, has become archaic language in the church. But at the core of who God is, is the connection of obedience…the bible says God is holy therefore we must be holy. All of activities connected to man is surrounded around this idea of obedience. Why did God create hell? For those who are not obedient. Why did God create or what was God’s purpose of creating man on the earth? Why did God cause a flood to come on the earth? Because of man’s disobedience. Why did Jesus Christ have to died on the cross? Because of man’s disobedience. But the bible communicates to us that the supreme pleasure of God is our obedience. God does not want your sacrifice or your works but God desires that you are obedience to him. It is why we were called before the foundation of the earth, to be blameless. Jesus said it best in Luke 6:46, “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord and do not do what I say?” In a world of wickedness, living amongst a people that are defiant against God’s law, believers are light in the mist of great darkness. Jesus desires his church and his people to be obedient
